We normally have five competitions each club year, one at every other meeting. Subject matter is assigned in advance, and outside, experienced judges are brought in. Judges are asked to comment aloud about images rather than merely to announce a score, so members learn not only what score is assigned, but, more importantly, why. Such competition provides a valuable learning experience.
